Kerri Levins of the Peachtree City office began making her name known early on in her real estate career. After starting with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers back in 2004, as a new agent with no listings of her own, Levins decided to begin holding open houses to meet buyers. She has consistently held open houses on a regular basis since then. The result? In the last two years, Levins has had five closings from clients she met at open houses.

In the beginning, holding open houses was a bit of a hassle for Levins. “I would have to track down an agent and call them to see if they would be interested in allowing me to hold an open house,” she says. BHGRE Metro Brokers then started the Super Sunday program, complete with an Open House Pool that allowed agents with listings to offer those homes up for other agents to hold an open house. Levins has participated in Super Sunday since the program began. Over the past couple of years, she’s racked up three closings as a result of Super Sunday plus two more from holding other open houses.

Before Levins holds an open house, she gets the word out. “Besides the online presence provided by BHGRE Metro Brokers, I add my open houses to realtor.com and GaMLS,” Levins says. “I also email my client database about the upcoming open house along with pictures and details so they can refer their friends and family.” In addition, she posts the open house location to Facebook, inviting people to come out, chat, have some refreshments, and register for the drawing. “Nothing pushy,” Levins explains. “I just want my name out there.”

One client Levins met at a Super Sunday open house closed within 3 months. Another client she is still working with did a lease-purchase for a year and a half and is set to close this month. After other open houses, Levins helped one client close on a home in two months and worked with another for two years before helping them to finally close on a home.

The Super Sunday program began in 2007 as a method of combining all of BHGRE Metro Brokers’ open house efforts one day a month, so that buyers can easily locate an open house in their area. Buyers can use the Super Sunday website (http://supersunday.metrobrokers.com/) to search the available open houses, and even plot their course using the Google Maps integration. To sweeten the deal, one lucky registrant is randomly drawn to win $1,000 after each event! Since its inception, there have been more than 10,000 Super Sunday open houses held in metro Atlanta with more than 15,000 attendees.
